Description
<p dir="">Student Assessment and Evaluation is open to all teachers with an interest or background in this area who have a desire to build their capacity and extend their knowledge, skills and practices in the design, implementation and assessment of their programs. Critical to the implementation of this course is the creation of positive learning experiences that reflect care, professional knowledge, ethical practice, leadership, equitable practices and ongoing learning. </p> <p dir="">This course will help educators examine how their ideologies impact their assessment practices. Through this learning, we will examine and explore how triangulation of data through conversations and observations, coupled with moving towards expectations-based classroom assessment will help all learners in your classroom thrive. </p> <p dir="">This course is divided into 12, 8-hour modules. There is a minimum expectation of 125 hours of coursework. Successful completion of the course will enable teachers to receive the Additional Qualification: Student Assessment and Evaluation. In the implementation of the course, instructors will use strategies that are relevant, meaningful, and practical in providing candidates with learning experiences about ideology, programming, instruction, pedagogy, assessment, and evaluation.</p> <p dir="">For the summer session of Student Assessment & Evaluation, each week there will be a scheduled, synchronous, one-on-one session. For fall and spring sessions, the three (3) scheduled one-on-one sessions will be spaced out throughout the course. In both cases, participants will be able to select from designated dates and times that best meet their own schedule. A schedule for these dates/times will be made available at the beginning of the course. </p> <p dir="">Additionally, there are three (3) group, synchronous sessions that will take place at the following times (virtually):</p> <ul> <li dir="" aria-level=""> <p dir="" role="">Thursday, February 27, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm</p> </li> <li dir="" aria-level=""> <p dir="" role="">Thursday, April 3, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm</p> </li> <li dir="" aria-level=""> <p dir="" role="">Thursday, April 24, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm</p> </li> </ul> <p dir=""><strong>Attendance at these group sessions is mandatory. </strong></p> <p dir="">The balance of course delivery and assignment completion/submission will be facilitated using the Brightspace / D2L Learning Management System.</p> <p dir="">Links for the virtual sessions will be shared with participants via the course instructor. Access to the virtual classroom space will not be available until February 10, 2025.</p> <p> </p>
